This project began when I started collecting vintage fireworks labels with interesting display type. The packaging is predominantly assembled abroad by non-English speakers. Their lack of familiarity with the Latin alphabet allows a high range of flexibility and play to come across in the letterforms that would likely be more difficult for a native English speaker to attempt. This unfamiliarity, combined with low quality printing methods and grainy paper stock, leads to amazingly distorted forms and approaches to the alphabet.
This typeface collects unique glyphs from these labels, and rotates among as the user types. The upper & lowercase letters contain different character sets. There are currently 14 alternates per character, and growing as I add more regularly!
A few labels I've collected and incorporated into my typeface.
